Instruction days

Today and tomorrow many introductions. Sunday about health  by a  Doctor from the local hospital  and security by police management of the Tarkwa district. Tomorrow introductions of the four projects we encounter. It's an honour to be here and share thoughts. This world is different from ours. We should not pretend to make it ours either.

Long drive to Tarkwa

The pictures of Ohms suggest high standards, it is good hotel, complete breakfast. Around 0930 we left with warm moist weather. At the border of the city heavy rainfall started up to 1400. Streets changed into small rivers. The local people survived this very well. Children seem to love playing in those streams. We had lunch in Elmina witg fish with yamchips and made nice pictures at the beach. Some more delay around Sekondi. Finally at 1900 we arrived at the nice Hotel de Hilda. Our homebase for the coming four weeks.  At dinner time our team was completed with the arrival of our last member from South Korea. Tomorrow a city tour in Tarkwa and several insructions in the afternon. A long, but nice day.

Preparations for IBM CSC Ghana9

Back in 2011 I signed up for the IBM CSC  a great programme where IBM-ers from everywhere in the world can work together to make our world Smarter. Early in 2012 I got my assignement: Ghana9, a team that will perform 4 weeks of work in Ghana in October 2012.
We started preparing with learning modules and introductions to the team, the team leads and Ghana.

One week left and I'm there, ready for a great job in Tarkwa, Ghana.

Fortunately I was able to add a week for holiday. Together with Marjan we will travel from noth to south in a week time. Just before we leave we will meet my former colleage Kofi and his family. I'm looking forward to meet him again after more than 20 years.
